Dead & Buried [Blu-ray]

Dead & Buried [Blu-ray] Overview

The Creators Of ALIEN Bring A New Terror To Earth

Something very strange is happening in the quiet coastal village of Potters Bluff, where tourists and transients are warmly welcomed... then brutally murdered. But even more shocking is when these slain strangers suddenly reappear as normal, friendly citizens around town. Now the local sheriff (James Farentino of THE FINAL COUNTDOWN) and an eccentric mortician (Oscar(r) winner Jack Albertson in his final feature film appearance) must uncover the horrific secret of a community where some terrifying traditions are alive and well... and no one is ever really DEAD & BURIED.

Robert Englund (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET) co-stars in this genuinely chilling horror hit written by Ronald Shusett and Dan O'Bannon (ALIEN), directed by Gary A. Sherman (RAW MEAT), and featuring ultra-grisly gore effects by Oscar(r) winner Stan Winston (ALIENS, TERMINATOR 2). DEAD & BURIED is now presented in eye-popping High Definition, completely uncut and uncensored, and loaded with revealing Extras.

Dead & Buried [Blu-ray] Specifications

Overlooked during its theatrical run but a cult favorite on video, this unique and chilling take on the zombie film finally joins the digital ranks with a two-DVD set from Blue Underground. James Farentino stars as a small-town sheriff who discovers that the victims in a string of grisly murders are reappearing seemingly alive and unharmed. His investigation leads him to suspect that the local mortician (Jack Albertson) is somehow responsible for these reanimated corpses; what Farentino doesn't know is the extent to which the entire town-himself included-is involved. First-time viewers will appreciate director Gary Sherman's attention to pacing and atmosphere, as well as the often darkly humorous script by co-producer Ronald Shusett and Dan O'Bannon (Alien, Total Recall) and the solid cast (which includes future horror star Robert Englund); longtime fans will appreciate the fact that Blue Underground's uncut print restores many of Stan Winston's gruesome special effects. --Paul Gaita

Customer Reviews

"Dead and buried," was a hit before being turned into a book and published in 1980. The book was not even as old when the movie came out. And the film was so successful, because it is well done and very effective in following the history books. It was not a disc of B-movie in its day is good for anything that was out to compete with other initiatives in the study of higher budget made and did a good job because it's a great story. The Blu-ray only enhances the viewing experience of this film. And the end isstill shocking when the film was not seen. All actors are excellent and are well above the B-movie (which has its own level of charm and rating) that most horror films were. Jack Albertson James Farentino and shines a great job in this film and the supporting cast too. The effects are complementary in the early 1980s was, but still effective and the story very well. Blu-ray is the only way to go to this movie, even if the standardis excellent.
