The Complete Monterey Pop Festival- (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]

The Complete Monterey Pop Festival- (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray] Overview

On a beautiful June weekend in 1967 at the height of the so-called "summer of love," the first and only Monterey International Pop Festival roared forward - capturing a decade's spirit and ushering in a new era of rock and roll. Monterey would launch the careers of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Otis Redding, but they were just a few among a wildly diverse cast including Simon and Garfunkel, The Mamas and the Papas, The Who, The Byrds, Hugh Masekela, and the extraordinary Ravi Shankar. With his characteristic verite style, D.A. Pennebaker captured it all, immortalizing those moments that have become legend: Pete Townshend destroying his guitar; Jimi Hendrix burning his. The Criterion Collection is proud to present the most comprehensive document of The Monterey International Pop Festival ever produced, featuring all three films of the festival - "Monterey Pop" (1967, 80min.), "Jimi Plays Monterey" (1986, 50min.) and "Shake! Otis At Monterey" (1987, 18min.) - along with nearly every complete performance filmed by Pennebaker and his crew, the "Outtakes" (1997, 120min.).

The Complete Monterey Pop Festival- (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray] Specifications

A special message from Lou Adler, an original promoter/producer for the Monterey International Pop Festival:

It was the first major Rock ‘n’ Roll Festival. No prerequisite…no precedents. We had no idea what to expect. The question of would people come was answered by mid-week prior to the start of the festival. They came and kept on coming. A major surprise was the extent of mainstream media coverage. When John Phillips and I arrived at the fairgrounds on the morning of the first day there were camera crews, photographers and journalists from all over the world. Add to that the advent of FM radio; and the following year Rolling Stone Magazine…Rock ‘n’ Roll was here to stay. Monterey gave birth to the first rock charity Monterey International Pop Festival Foundation, which continues to fund worthwhile causes in the names of the artists who appeared at Monterey. Precedents and prerequisites would be set for future concerts and festivals, including the overall treatment of the artist…Derek Taylor’s handling of the press…Chip Monks’ sound and lights…Pennebaker’s groundbreaking movie “Monterey Pop. The true legacy of The Monterey International Pop Festival is not the crowd size…not the weather…not a violent incident…it is the music. The groundbreaking artists who were introduced (Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and The Who) and the “rock royalty” (Simon & Garfunkel, Otis Redding and The Mamas & The Papas) that performed there continue to be revered and continue to impact to this day the music and musicians who came after it happened in Monterey on June 16, 17, and 18, 1967.

I have to play a disc from Netflix to Blu-Ray. This is awesome at all levels. If you read the Criterion Collection Essays [...], you'll see that most of the cast was just experimenting with the new form - Rock and Roll - because most of the actors (Mamas and Papas, Janis Joplin and others) was released in right and were strongly influenced by the movement of folk, blues and jazz, of course. The result was simply magical at all levels. Check the setlist. Check the artist. To see Hendrix perform The Troggs "Wild Thing" and then with his guitar on fire for the love of light, it was incredible. To understand that, before the concert that Hendrix, a stranger who had ridden the Chitlin Circuit 'for years, a guitar god is difficult, given the reputation he has built for himself converted to imagine in the next three years to get his life was before it was interrupted by Herion addiction. The same was true with Janis Joplin. To see Who's bashapart from their instruments was their way of performing art destructive, a concept I do not understand intellectually but emotionally, it is not important - that the world was 40 years ago, on a world whose innocence we have in some way affect everyone us, and when the 50s costumes were out the window and, since 1967 and the first rock festival, the death of JFK was omnipresent in the minds of young people and artists such as the growing U.S. involvement in Vietnam was and despite the PresidentNixon's attempts to control everything, since 1968, the Company was actually a win and the music, be relevant as never before or since, "continued the movement. Maybe it's Woodstock of 1969 was a great success. If it were not been to Monterey, there was Woodstock. Music has the power.

Blu-ray transfers are, in a word, perfect. The video is as clear as full of life, as you can imagine, and the audio is remastered in DTS HD Master Audio oneRevelation, and makes the whole experience that much more is available, who says that you can understand how you feel, even if the 16mm lens of the camera crew Pennebaker, a splendid job of filming not only the artists on stage but the artists themselves are sitting in the audience enjoy the music itself. This is a photo of Mama Cass to Janis Joplin singing "Ball and Chain" is priceless. As always, the camera man's attention to details like this that make little momentsin a movie even more special. I was horrified to learn, however, that the performance of the Grateful Dead was in fact one of his best performances to dance with all channels in the aisles. But no video. No sound. I'm going to get the second disc and when finances allow, it will become a valuable part of my collection of videos. I was only 6 for most of 1967, but for some reason feel a deep connection to this music. Perhaps because the crop of artists who have been hereAmerica then dominated popular music, many were. What has happened in pop music these days is just an insult to everyone that these are great musicians in their music, body and soul, things missing, unfortunately, today, when pop music is often there for the fame, not art done. This is art. Five stars. And if I could give six, I would. All I have to say is: enjoy.

Dead & Buried [Blu-ray]

Dead & Buried [Blu-ray] Overview

The Creators Of ALIEN Bring A New Terror To Earth

Something very strange is happening in the quiet coastal village of Potters Bluff, where tourists and transients are warmly welcomed... then brutally murdered. But even more shocking is when these slain strangers suddenly reappear as normal, friendly citizens around town. Robert Englund (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET) co-stars in this genuinely chilling horror hit written by Ronald Shusett and Dan O'Bannon (ALIEN), directed by Gary A. Sherman (RAW MEAT), and featuring ultra-grisly gore effects by Oscar(r) winner Stan Winston (ALIENS, TERMINATOR 2). DEAD & BURIED is now presented in eye-popping High Definition, completely uncut and uncensored, and loaded with revealing Extras.

Dead & Buried [Blu-ray] Specifications

Overlooked during its theatrical run but a cult favorite on video, this unique and chilling take on the zombie film finally joins the digital ranks with a two-DVD set from Blue Underground. James Farentino stars as a small-town sheriff who discovers that the victims in a string of grisly murders are reappearing seemingly alive and unharmed. His investigation leads him to suspect that the local mortician (Jack Albertson) is somehow responsible for these reanimated corpses; what Farentino doesn't know is the extent to which the entire town-himself included-is involved. First-time viewers will appreciate director Gary Sherman's attention to pacing and atmosphere, as well as the often darkly humorous script by co-producer Ronald Shusett and Dan O'Bannon (Alien, Total Recall) and the solid cast (which includes future horror star Robert Englund); longtime fans will appreciate the fact that Blue Underground's uncut print restores many of Stan Winston's gruesome special effects. --Paul Gaita

"Dead and buried," was a hit before being turned into a book and published in 1980. The book was not even as old when the movie came out. And the film was so successful, because it is well done and very effective in following the history books. It was not a disc of B-movie in its day is good for anything that was out to compete with other initiatives in the study of higher budget made and did a good job because it's a great story. The Blu-ray only enhances the viewing experience of this film. And the end isstill shocking when the film was not seen. All actors are excellent and are well above the B-movie (which has its own level of charm and rating) that most horror films were. Jack Albertson James Farentino and shines a great job in this film and the supporting cast too. The effects are complementary in the early 1980s was, but still effective and the story very well. Blu-ray is the only way to go to this movie, even if the standardis excellent.

I love this DVD and listen to the CD. Alice and the band with new and old the same skill and enthusiasm. Not many artists can access from the marketing year 1970 are mixed with new material in 2005 and make it sound cohesive and fun. The whole band is in great shape is different, but Ryan Roxie. His solo on I'm Eighteen is incredible, I have heard many live performances of classical pieces, but this is my favorite. As Alice sings "I'm in the middle, with no plans," I expected to fly from his lung.He always gives 100%, so I have followed his career after 40 years. You never know what to expect, it is often confusing, sometimes disappointing, but always interesting. Perhaps it is also his long-awaited entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. He has influenced so many artists and ordinary people through his music and songs, is a farce, it is not always there. As he said in an interview that "it is a private club," and this is a disgrace.

This film deserves 5 stars because of the hot brunette FBI Agent Frankie Miller (Holly Dignard)!

I have to give an assessment of 4 stars, the story and production. Most of the film is separated only by a power vortex on how maverick cop (Seagal, of course) trying to fit information on two serial killers in general. Some scenes are too abrupt and do not flow with the movie: eg. where and how did the FBI agent lands Miller to move into a house of a man who wasthreatened his wife with a gun? One minute of agent Miller went straight from a crime scene and the next scene shows a police officer and others in an already open door to the gunman. You should see how fast these sexy FBI agent their potential attackers disarmed easily without sweating brows waxed - moves faster than Seagal! LOL!

Zoom and Pan, to the camera, Steven Seagal.
Your fans want to see your footwork and hands, and how they move inReport to a deduction.
How do I produce a movie with you next time?

I'll tell you later!

Hachi: A Dog's Tale [Blu-ray]

Hachi: A Dog's Tale [Blu-ray] Overview

From Academy Award-nominated director Lasse Hallström (2000, The Cider House Rules) comes Hachi: A Dog’s Tale, a film based on one of the most treasured and heartwarming true stories ever told. Golden Globe winner Richard Gere (2002, Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, Chicago) stars as Professor Parker Wilson, a distinguished scholar who discovers a lost Akita puppy on his way home from work. Despite initial objections from Wilson’s wife, Cate (Academy Award nominee Joan Allen – 2000, Best Actress, The Contender), Hachi endears himself into the Wilson family and grows to be Parker's loyal companion. As their bond grows deeper, a beautiful relationship unfolds embodying the true spirit of family and loyalty, while inspiring the hearts of an entire town.

Hachi: A Dog's Tale [Blu-ray] Specifications

Based on a true story from Japan, Hachi: A Dog's Tale is a moving film about loyalty and the rare, invincible bonds that occasionally form almost instantaneously in the most unlikely places. College professor Parker Wilson (Richard Gere) finds a young Akita puppy that's been abandoned at the local train station, and he's instantly captivated by the dog. Assuming the dog's owner will return to the train station to claim him in the morning, Parker takes the puppy home overnight. But when no one comes to get the dog, Parker convinces his wife, Cate (Joan Allen), to welcome him as part of the family. He dubs the puppy Hachiko--Hachi, for short--because of the Japanese symbol for good luck that's hanging from his collar. Hachi is a somewhat peculiar dog that refuses to learn to fetch or master other people-pleasing tricks, but he is a faithful companion and friend to Parker, alerting him of potential dangers and accompanying him to the train station each morning and meeting him there after his return trip each evening. An unforeseen event will continually test Hachi's devotion. This film is neither overwrought nor sappy; it is heartfelt and immensely powerful despite its tendency to drag in a few places. Prepare to be moved to tears by this beautiful, seemingly simple film--it's about so much more than just the relationship between a man and his dog. --Tami Horiuchi

This is one of the best movies I've seen in many years. I bought this after seeing the movie on TV b / c I loved so much. I saw it again as soon as I get it and cried again. E 'moving, and despite the simple very complex history in terms of emotions that it brings. It 's a great story of great love and loyalty - even if it is sad mainly b / c other people in the life of Hachi are not very loyal to him, despite his loyalty. But there is also a deeply spiritual message -especially how it ends.
It 's just a great movie - the guy who works for a long time. I highly recommend this. And if you have a dog or animal lovers, add a star. If you're not, you will be at the end of the film. That is based on a true story makes it even better.
My two cents
Henry

Origin: Spirits of the Past (Special Edition) [Blu-ray]

Origin: Spirits of the Past (Special Edition) [Blu-ray] Overview

The rebirth of the past from the ashes of the future ....

A young boy named Agito enters a forbidden sanctuary where a glowing machine resides. This machine preserves a young girl named Toola, who has a mission entrusted by her from the past. Three-hundred years into the future, the Earth's environment has been ruined by the interference of mankind, and in between the 300 years, the forest has come to life and is at constant war with man. It is an unsteady peace in an unnatural time. Only by searching their souls and examining the past will Toola & Agito realize the origin of all things and unite mankind with the forest.

Origin: Spirits of the Past (Special Edition) [Blu-ray] Specifications

Outstanding animation and a compelling environmental message make Origin: Spirits of the Past an above-average anime feature, especially for younger viewers. Despite an abundance of elements that many anime fans will find familiar, Origin distinguishes itself with a story that lends itself (like many anime features) to a variety of spectacular settings. As the fairy-tale story begins, it's been 300 years since terrible events left civilization in ruins. Now, in a post-apocalyptic setting where the crumbling remains of vast cities lie in close proximity to the encroaching forest, humans live on both sides of a brewing conflict. For young Agito, the son of an aging hero, life is relatively peaceful in Neutral City, a community built within the ruins of a once-major city. But when he wanders into a forbidden zone of the forest, where plant-like "druids" protect their world from outsiders, he discovers a cryogenic stasis tube containing Toola, a girl who's been resting in stasis for 300 years. Her father had been in charge of the "Earth Rejuvenation Project" that led to a technological disaster, and her emerging friendship with Agito is threatened when they find themselves on opposing sides of an ideological conflict, and Agito must save Toola from her potentially destructive convictions. He does so by becoming "enhanced"--essentially melding his human form with the forest, aligning himself with the powerful forces of nature. As a colorful mixture of science fiction and "green-friendly" adventure, Origin has a lot to say about preserving our planet in the era of global warming, and it's a visual treat from start to finish. --Jeff Shannon

If the movie Princess Mononoke turn out like this rather than looking just as nice. As some of the Japanese anime film of this mystical hold a series of shades to protect and honor the power of nature and the destructiveness of man, if not careful, the animation series and the soundtrack is also very reminiscent of Princess Mononoke , which fits well together. The item is about to launch something you have to decide for themselves, I am a big fan of veryFormer ADV Films and Funimation released anime, so I hear, these individuals and used actresses'm established and their characters fit very well, but he could see what decision or short scenes of the film for themselves, but As expected, the Japanese cast is splendid in their roles. This set contains two DVDs of the film is obviously the first and the second contains the bonus, the TV spots, comments and actor, trailers, and the birth of film, Isuspect a lot of people like me do not really is not difficult, but still very nice for the price less. So if you have the movie Princess Mononoke have here another great movie, add your Anime Library ....

Trained by the company's top young turks, Chris (Vin Diesel) and Greg (Nicky Katt), Seth takes quickly to his new job's instant riches and fast-life pleasure. When Seth wins the eye and the heart of Greg's ex-girlfriend Abbie (Nia Long) it all seems too good to be true. But he's about to learn the devastating secret behind all this intoxicating success. Special Features: Interactive Menus/Chapter Search, Alternate Endings, Theatrical Trailer, Interactive Film Trivia, Filmography, Deleted Scenes, Original Screenplay.

Boiler Room (2000) (Blu-Ray) [Blu-ray] Specifications

The intense soundtrack of Boiler Room is a fitting underscore for this movie, which pulses with the vigor of young, rich, amoral men wreaking havoc. This is not the antisocietal havoc of Fight Club, but the more deliberate mayhem that comes from greed run amok. The testosterone-junkie brokers of J.T. Marlin (the only female in the office is Abby, the receptionist and love interest, played by Nia Long) are out to make the sale, and whether that sale is legal or ethical doesn't matter.

Seth Davis (Giovanni Ribisi) is a 19-year-old college dropout who strives for approval from his father (Ron Rifkin), a judge who is horrified that his son operates a 24-hour illicit casino. When an old friend visits the casino with a fellow broker, Davis is impressed by their wads of money and yellow Ferrari, and decides to join the firm. In no time he's making sales and settling into the groove of the office and all the after-hours perks, but the dream fades when Davis discovers the scam that is making all of the brokers wealthy beyond their dreams.

Borrowing heavily from Wall Street and Glengarry Glen Ross, Boiler Room is at its best when dealing with matters of money, and powerful scenes of Davis learning to be a "closer" showcase the significant talent of Ribisi, Nicky Katt, and Vin Diesel. The movie flounders when developing the relationship between Davis and his father, becoming sentimental and trite. However, as a fable of modern society and a nostalgic vehicle about the days of yuppies past, Boiler Room is right on the money. --Jenny Brown

I really liked this movie. Giovanni Ribisi is brilliant along with the rest of the cast. The film is done with care with a kind of taste Rounders (another great film). Besides the great characters, I use the theme of a rebellious son of a father looking hard united approval. While you will be taken by the number of f-bombs in the movie (which actually increases the number of Beverly Hills Cop, a very mainstream film with a large number of f-bombs) will remain with the film and himselfTime for the meaning of history and in connection with the characters. The Boiler Room offers a very satisfying film. Rent. Look at him. Immediately. Look at him.

Robotech The Shadow Chronicles [RTSC] is the first real attempt to breathe Harmony Gold to life, a fact that, at least in the United States is a sleeping giant.

Personally I find the series of films of 3.5 to five, so I rounded up. RTSC is basically the pilot for 88min what's the next saga of Robotech become that show how to add a fourth in the last three of the original. I think it's more than one episode OVA as a stand-alone movie, and although HG is currently in a new continuationRobotech Shadow Rising, and a live-action adaptation of the original series, starring Tobey Maguire and Warner Brothers.

My only real complaints stem from the fact that RTSC was not that big of a budget. Let's face it, even in a franchise in silence after almost 20 years is a risky business. There are some little things that have been set, the animation is often little troubleshooting.

Overall RTSC is starting a fun, the closest, I think, as has beenregain some realistic elements that made the original expected as a large and permanent. If you're a Robotech anime or this is a must if you're curious, I suggest you start with the original series, then get this film when you're done.

Harness the power of Blu-ray™ High Definition to captivate and entertain your whole family!

The Wild [Blu-ray] Specifications

A cuddly koala who wants to be fierce, a squirrel in love with a sarcastic giraffe, an addle-pated anaconda, and a lion with a secret set off from their cozy zoo to rescue the lion's adolescent cub from an accidental kidnapping. After braving the dangers of the big city and stealing a boat, they find themselves in the African jungle, where a renegade herd of wildebeest have decided they want to change their position on the food chain (understandable, really). The Wild is hodgepodge--it's never clear why these mismatched creatures are friends and plot elements seem haphazardly plucked from Finding Nemo, Madagascar, and Ice Age: The Meltdown (though the latter two were made at the same time as The Wild, so it's just unfortunate for this movie that they came out first). Despite a general air of manic desperation, The Wild does have its strengths: The animation is richly realistic, leading to some gorgeous depictions of light (not exactly a selling point for kids, but adults can appreciate it). Several characters pop out--a pair of sewer crocodiles sound like NPR's Car Talk guys; William Shatner (Star Trek, Boston Legal) is effectively scary as the cult-leader/choreographer of the wildebeest; and comedian Eddie Izzard lends some of his trademark smart and silly humor to Nigel, the disgruntled koala bear. Successful bits and pieces don't make for a great movie, but they keep The Wild from the brink of disaster. --Bret Fetzer

Crash [Blu-ray]

Crash [Blu-ray] Overview

Lives in Los Angeles intersect following a random car-jacking.

Crash [Blu-ray] Specifications

Movie studios, by and large, avoid controversial subjects like race the way you might avoid a hive of angry bees. So it's remarkable that Crash even got made; that it's a rich, intelligent, and moving exploration of the interlocking lives of a dozen Los Angeles residents--black, white, latino, Asian, and Persian--is downright amazing. A politically nervous district attorney (Brendan Fraser) and his high-strung wife (Sandra Bullock, biting into a welcome change of pace from Miss Congeniality) get car-jacked by an oddly sociological pair of young black men (Larenz Tate and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges); a rich black T.V. director (Terrence Howard) and his wife (Thandie Newton) get pulled over by a white racist cop (Matt Dillon) and his reluctant partner (Ryan Phillipe); a detective (Don Cheadle) and his Latina partner and lover (Jennifer Esposito) investigate a white cop who shot a black cop--these are only three of the interlocking stories that reach up and down class lines. Writer/director Paul Haggis (who wrote the screenplay for Million Dollar Baby) spins every character in unpredictable directions, refusing to let anyone sink into a stereotype. The cast--ranging from the famous names above to lesser-known but just as capable actors like Michael Pena (Buffalo Soldiers) and Loretta Devine (Woman Thou Art Loosed)--meets the strong script head-on, delivering galvanizing performances in short vignettes, brief glimpses that build with gut-wrenching force. This sort of multi-character mosaic is hard to pull off; Crash rivals such classics as Nashville and Short Cuts. A knockout. --Bret Fetzer

This film is in many ways kind of movement. It shows how we are connected by a simple or a deliberate act. the attraction of the bottom of the racism I heard were treated very well in the application. I would recommend watching this film to anyone. I'm glad I bought to rent, however, because it is the second time when you really connect all people in storyline.i Clock guess the old saying (what you sow), it is true.

Julie & Julia [Blu-ray]

Julie & Julia [Blu-ray] Overview

Based on two true stories, Julie & Julia intertwines the lives of two women who, though separated by time and space, are both at loose ends...until th

Julie & Julia [Blu-ray] Specifications

Julie & Julia is a film that should be relished with gusto--accompanied by the freshest and best ingredients, pounds of butter, and bottles of the very best wine. It lovingly celebrates the life of one of American food's most influential and beloved figureheads: Julia Child--played here with zest, humor, and a sweet, subtle respect by Meryl Streep, whose performance is spectacular.

Julie & Julia is based on the book by Julie Powell, a frustrated New York bureaucrat who wants to be a writer. "But you're not a writer until someone publishes you," she moans. So she gives herself a challenge: to cook her way through Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking in one year, and to blog about it. As Powell (played with chirpy determination by Amy Adams), begins to find her groove as a cook, and her voice as a writer, the project takes on a life of its own--and in the end it does provide the struggling young woman with her life's purpose, to her very pleasant surprise. But mostly, Julie & Julia is a valentine to Child, to Child's amazing love affair with her dashing husband, Paul (Stanley Tucci, as divine as any soufflé in the film), and to her outlook on embracing life, and ordering seconds. Streep throws herself into the Child role with real affection for her character, and while certain of Child's idiosyncrasies--including her warbly voice and unflappable haphazardness in the kitchen--are retained, it's Child's character and vision which form Streep's portrayal, and which make the film so involving and rewarding.

Nora Ephron directs with deftness and a light touch, though she seems at times to be encouraging some of Meg Ryan's onscreen tics in Adams (the self-conscious head tilt, for one). But mostly she simply allows Streep to channel Child and her love of food, her husband, and 1950s Paris. And that is a recipe for something truly sublime. --A.T. Hurley

I'll make a confession at the front - I like everything because Meryl Streep is one of the most underrated actresses in film history. Your genius has an uncanny ability to appear in a character so completely that you can not fail to see the person who is, rather than the actress. This is the sign of an incredibly talented person and Streep hits on all cylinders in Julie & Julia, as she wears Prada in the Devil.

For those of us who do not know how JuliaChild was named as a world-famous, the film gives the story of how her husband moved from city to city government as a disgruntled employee has given his time to pursue things that interest them. While she tried her hand to a number of topics during his stay in Paris, France, eventually came to realize that cooking was his true passion and started. From high-level training in a prestigious cooking school to be approached by a couple of flakesPotential authors of books about cooking on a cookbook with recipes from English to work in France, Julia would have been the dream - boil French, Americans, who do not have to cook for their employees. It 'been worn, what was one of the most important culinary figures of our time, whose effects are still felt.

Julie & Julia is the story of a used 9 / 11 government group named Julie, who was inspired to do something with their lives in 2002 when he gotset their sights on their way from Julia Child's cooking all 500 + recipes in one year - and blogging about it! As a writer, she felt compelled to everything with their readers (who are always with you ") to share their ups and downs during the journey from the kitchen this year. I could tell Julie character, because for a living and many things in this film have been discussed on a blog, blog absolutely true. Julie has her big breakthrough was when the New York Timesa history of large for his blog and when writers, publishers of books, television shows and much more contact with the opportunities that it has gone up a book and then began to be this great movie.

My wife and I liked this film (and we knew we) for our special date night and I recommend it to bloggers, gourmets, and those who are curious about the emergence of a true legend in the history of cuisine as Julia Child. Watch this film!

The A-Team (+ Digital Copy) [Blu-ray]

The A-Team (+ Digital Copy) [Blu-ray] Overview

Give it up to the A-Team: they've always been good at demolishing things in big, big ways. Freed from the confines of the 1980s TV series, the 2010 blockbuster movie version allows the four members of the paramilitary squad to really amp up the mayhem to newly crazed heights. Liam Neeson plays team leader Hannibal Smith (inheriting the cigar-chomping from the show's George Peppard), and pro wrestler Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is "B.A." Baracus, the TV show's most iconic character (insert Mr. T "I pity the fool" joke here). As the vain Face, Bradley Cooper preens in convincing fashion, and District 9 out-of-nowhere star Sharlto Copley plays the unhinged pilot "Howlin' Mad" Murdock. These boys are on the trail of some money-counterfeiting plates, from Bagdad to Germany to places in between. It would be understating it to say that the plot is not of primary importance, although Patrick Wilson has some fun as a CIA official and Jessica Biel occasionally strikes poses as Face's ex-flame, now a military officer displeased with the A-Team's extra-legal shenanigans. The storytelling is insipid and half-hearted--but when it comes to snarky dialogue and two-fisted action scenes, director Joe Carnahan is in his comfort zone. It's reasonably fun watching the working-out of such logistical puzzles as dropping a tank (with crew inside) from a plane, or scattering the main characters on a dockside as cargo containers rain down from a ship looming above them. Good times, although is it asking too much for certain basic laws of physics (if you drop a human body ten stories, for instance, it might actually sustain injuries) to be used as a guideline? But worrying about such matters isn't in the spirit of The A-Team, which cheerfully ignores the petty concerns of credibility and logic. --Robert Horton

Customer Reviews

To be honest, well done fellas - which is fantastic.

Over the past decade, in my opinion, it borders the American director purely ridiculous low. I decided to bring my youngest son to the movies, that particular Saturday, and while this was the obvious choice for him (I-want-to-grow-up-and-fight-the-Daleks), and where I can not I really did not know what I expected today. There are many wolves in sheep, in recent years were not processedPropaganda of the worst kind (Hurt Locker) to the strange and wonderful - too many to remember - I thought this kind of movie we were just the equivalent of one hour or more shouting and screaming in Vista Newt Gingrich viewer through a megaphone for the beauty of "Home of the free."

Or something.

No, I was completely wrong. The film is very well literally in every sense - a story very intelligent and well prepared. Pure popcorn surprise, the kind of thingis causing fathers everywhere, whispering to their children: "I remember this stuff, if you were, you know, too young to bring together." The screen works well, play important ideas with visual welding, and you can really feel through it.

Not to say that it is quite easy for the eyes. I mean, some of the measures is quite extreme and it hurts to think that to happen, but this is also a tribute to the excellent camera work, I can not say more than thatbecause I have never been outside to do what appears on a large scale, and they do so well here.

Special effects? I think so. The idea that I really experience the real effects when boiling gross injustice and the sense of pure rage just under the skin of these figures is, but again, it works well, and the resulting large-flying things some bits are approximately the same level, but there would be a good movie without it.

It 'sad nowI've never seen the original television series The A-Team at all, but I think after this I will.

By the way, what is the A-Team, the inside of the A-teams? Watch and you'll know what I mean. By the way, that little scene in particular got a massive applause from the audience was more excited that I see with the public gradually from a mixture of traditional fathers and children is something like a bunch of drunken football fan crowd as the film progress morphed,So you can imagine what everything was like and how great it was to be there.

What was it? Manic, unpredictable and very, very pleasant, at least.

Highly recommended.

Lymelife [Blu-ray]

Lymelife [Blu-ray] Overview

Based on the true childhood experiences of director Derick Martini, Lymelife is the coming of age story of 15-year old Scott growing up in suburban Long Island. While caught up in his first love, Scott watches the relationships of his parents and their neighbors slowly crumble as they try to keep up with the changing times and expectations of the 1970s. Critically acclaimed, Lymelife features a magnificent ensemble cast, with incredible performances that make you laugh and cry along with them.

Do not allow comparisons with American Beauty weigh decision to leave or discourage excessive Lymelife. Of course, it is a dysfunction in American families a lot to social pressure and the need to adapt successfully and bound, and yes, sometimes it is dark and strong in their statements, but Lymelife from deeper, more personal place. In the experience of the film (directed by Derick Martini from a script written with his brother Steven), the film feels verymore loving and realistic in his memory of childhood and adolescence, the inclusion of a sense of life during a key time in 70 years without idealizing the experience or fear of the harsh truth.

Strictly speaking, time is of the decade, the director is just coming of age, but understanding that was great what the world they live comes from his family background in the 70s. In places like Long S Iceland, was in fact a mini-boomand an opportunity for the American dream and Scott's father, Mickey (Alec Baldwin) live, is one of the men followed his dream to dream, to create through his construction company. Despite the richness that it brings, is everything that is not happy at home Bartlett and the constant voltage to the success and impact of the family, as Mickey exercise of a report to the next. Scott now - superbly played by Kieran Culkin - has its own concerns, dealing with bullying in schools andtried to raise his childhood friendship with Adrianna (Emma Roberts) to a new level, but she is not much bigger quickly develop outside the scope of a teenager still obsessed with Star Wars.

The fact that 70 non-director's own experience shows in one or two small anachronisms (the question of the Falklands would have been difficult here in America, at least right now), but in essence, the comments are true, and damage and an acute canSubtlety, for the most part (the slow, insidious effects of Lyme disease suffers, Adrianna meet representatives of the father further breakdown of values), but is also capable, hard as necessary to do so. Peaceful reconstruction is covered in many American films of this genre - Noah Baumbach's The Squid and the Whale is also in mind, as well as its Margot at the wedding - but, even if produced by Martin Scorsese, indie sensibility is a pleasant Lymelife and some fine performances, should contribute todifferentiate and lift himself into the crowd.

Enter the Dragon (Rpkg) [Blu-ray]

Enter the Dragon (Rpkg) [Blu-ray] Overview

Impactante!

Enter the Dragon (Rpkg) [Blu-ray] Specifications

The last film completed by Bruce Lee before his untimely death, Enter the Dragon was his entrée into Hollywood. The American-Hong Kong coproduction, shot in Asia by American director Robert Clouse, stars Lee as a British agent sent to infiltrate the criminal empire of bloodthirsty Asian crime lord Han (Shih Kien) through his annual international martial arts tournament. Lee spends his days taking on tournament combatants and nights breaking into the heavily guarded underground fortress, kicking the living tar out of anyone who stands in his way. The mix of kung fu fighting (choreographed by Lee himself) and James Bond intrigue (the plot has more than a passing resemblance to Dr. No) is pulpy by any standard, but the generous budget and talented cast of world-class martial artists puts this film in a category well above Lee's earlier Hong Kong productions. Unfortunately he's off the screen for large chunks of time as American maverick competitors (and champion martial artists) John Saxon and Jim Kelly take center stage, but once the fighting starts Lee takes over. The tournament setting provides an ample display of martial arts mastery of many styles and climaxes with a huge free-for-all, but the highlight is Lee's brutal one-on-one with the claw-fisted Han in the dynamic hall-of-mirrors battle. Lee narrows his eyes and tenses into a wiry force of sinew, speed, and ruthless determination. --Sean Axmaker

This is one of the largest (if not more) martial arts movie of all time. A lot of people are now in striking martial arts movie with a lot of flips and acrobatics and incredible athletic performance. Although I'm a fan of this kind of film, "Enter the Dragon" is in its category. For those who are not informed of the teacher who is Bruce Lee has never done anything flashy or unnecessary. Other martial arts films are dominated by rumors of martial arts in them, basedwhich are usually large arts or Wushu as many different styles of Kung Fu. Bruce Lee makes called the same in this film, but with his style of martial art Jeet Kune Thurs JKD was nothing flashy. It 'was very easy and was designed to combat real and / or self-defense. Nothing flashy, just you stop your opponent (s) so easily and quickly and efficiently as possible. Bruce shows his style in this movie. People complain there is no "combo" or "flashy techniques" or"Very well choreographed fight scenes in this film. While you can apply to a certain extent, they do not understand that Bruce was not trying to be flashy. He did not believe that you had to learn many other combination is when you finish a battle with one shot. It felt many martial artists to look very well focused on techniques "that are many neglected basic techniques of physical training to effectively stop fighting. Its not to win a battle, but its oversurvive a fight.

Home [Blu-ray] Specifications

"Former actor Yann Arthus-Bertrand directed this visually astonishing portrait of the Earth as seen from mesmerizing aerial views. Home is not the first documentary to survey our planet from the air, but Arthus-Bertrand brilliantly and dreamily captures the miraculous linkage within delicate eco-systems. For viewers whose eyes glaze over at descriptions of the way Earth recycles energy and matter, Home underscores the beautiful and awesome reality of that complex process. Narrated by actress Glenn Close (in this English-language version), Home begins by exploring and clarifying the natural history of water, sunlight, and the role simple life-forms such as algae played (and still play) in making the planet hospitable to more evolved, living things. As the film moves along, it also has a way of rebooting one's lazy assumptions about familiar phenomena. The Grand Canyon, for example, might be a fantastic sight to behold, but it's also a collection of billions and billions of shells compressed under Earth's oceans long ago. The carbon trapped in the Grand Canyon was drained from the atmosphere, helping--once again--oxygen-dependent life to develop.

Similarly, plant life, Home tells us, broke up the water molecule and released oxygen into the atmosphere. Everything is linked, everything is part of a grand machine--the film makes this clear in scores of ways, and not just by telling us. Arthus-Bertrand reveals the intricate, breathtaking designs and patterns of glaciers feeding rivers, of animals feeding on plant life so more plant life can grow, of Australia's great Coral Reef's role in keeping the ocean in eco-balance. Of course, a big part of the story is the impact short-sighted humans have on these systems: the way we overfish, or drain deserts of scarce fossil water, or turn non-farming lands into perverse engines for agriculture. There is much to be alarmed at watching Home, but there is much to move one as well. --Tom Keogh "

Customer Reviews

Beautiful aerial photography in the service offers a hell of a chilling message. You can not with the visual evidence of the terrible circumstances in which we find ourselves these days to discuss. "Ask not for whom the bell tolls ..." kind of thing. So relieved, but gives the film deals with the solutions. I would have liked more movies in this undertaking (ie moved "to see the salvation / redemption '), but yet something had gone more hope than I expected. I also happened to noticethe discrepancy between the "city first appeared 600 years ago," fragment, but figured some other qualifier was the comments left? Another thing that threw me was the late Glenn "I" statements. He was talking to the director? Or Glenn was personally involved in making this documentary? It is not clear. In any case, not ready to throw the baby with the bathwater. " Understand every man, woman and child should be required to watch this movie on EarthNeed for a "Land of the citizens" and that the films are financed by the "2% of the population with the material wealth of the planet ... What do you think?
